Your task: Imagine that you are a famous meteorologist. The fourth grade teachers at Kensington Elementary School have invited you to come to their Career Day and teach all of the fourth graders about the three different kinds of severe weather. You have to create a brochure to give each fourth grade student after your presentation.
Steps you will be following:
In order to prepare for Career Day at KES:
1) Click on the severe weather phenomena link on the resources page (or just click on the words "severe weather phenomena" in this sentence) and read the document. As you read, take dash notes on the three types of severe weather.
2) Watch the video called Natural Phenomena: Hurricanes, Tornadoes, and Other Weather. As you watch the video, take dash notes on the three types of severe weather.
3) Organize your information for each severe weather. Make sure you include the definition of each storm, the effects of the each storm and safety concerns. Make sure to draw a picture for each severe weather storm.
4) Organize your information using the brochure example or any other way you choose. You will want to refer to your notes while doing this task. You can go back over the notes, the information, and the video, as often as you like. Click on the severe weather brochure to see the sample outline.
